Though I plan to keep everybody reading this thread updated with the outcome of my case, I recently cancelled my ’subscription’ to Hivelocity and told them I would finish out one of my three pre-paid months (they auto-billed my CC for another three). I was on an unmetered server and it cost somewhere near $260 a month. I asked if just the other two months could be refunded.

After making me jump through a couple of hoops, I finally got a confirmation on the order refund on April 5th.

Today, June 1st, I am still waiting for my refund… I tried contacting Hivelocity and still have received no response.

I have every single email to prove my case and am afraid a lawyer’s letter may soon be in order. Fortunately I come from a huge family of lawyers (I am a disgrace) and that part is simple.

But what a hassle.

I will keep you informed on whether I get my refund or not.

I’ll start with a response from them!

This is the first time I have ever had a matter like this with a server company.

So what happened? Why are you leaving them?

Though I had one tiny complaint about the service (had to keep restarting the server every once in a while), the only reason I left the hosting company was budget reasons and the fact that I didn’t need another unmetered server.

I have another unmetered with another company and, for the time being, it still has bandwidth to spare.

Still no response from the company.

They are looking to hose me for a little over $500…. I am going to call them on Monday.

Update!

I have contacted them again about the refund and guess what?

they don’t do refunds on orders. So, if you get auto-charged by their system, you are f*cked.

I am still working on getting my refund, but it looks like I may have to use my lawyer.

The email sent to me said refund in progress… turns out they were buying time for the entire purchase to run its course so they can bill me for it.

horrid… avoid avoid avoid hivelocity.

Keep you updated.

My suggestion would be contact your back or credit card company and file a chargeback as fraud

most banks give you your money back within a few days

i would think that threating them with letters from a lawyer wont get you to far

but filing a chargeback they have no recourse because you never signed the sales draft therefore they lose

just a thought
